One of my favourite haunts, heaths and woodlands, plenty of easy walks on flat ground, tree roots, rabbit holes and adders being the only hazard, July & August for the heather, Autumn for the falling leaves and Summer of course for the shade
Glider Ditch on the heath by the Woodbridge Army Base road
Today I took a walk on Sutton Heath [Close to the Burial Chambers of Sutton Hoo, my AVATAR picture] I wasn't disappointed this is only a handful of miles away from me and is a mixture of Heathland and Coniferous Forest [USAF Woodbridge/Bent*waters] just a stones throw away, you could almost hear the old Banshees wailing. [in my mind anyway ]
It was nothing like this it was peace, not even an Apache to break the silence over Rock Barracks [REME], the heather again was in full bloom the grass virtually non existant due to the drought like conditions, the ferns beginning to take on a rich hue.
This is the hand of nature painted by something that is quite beautiful to look at, I took a 4 mile walk through the heath, woods and forest, magic!
