Rumburgh church notes from Caroline Cardwell

  • 1064 Priory founded, dedicated to St Michael & St Felix
  • 1769 David Elisha Davy born
  • 1841 population of Rumburgh 432
  • 1852 Robert Scarle was killed by a sail of the mill
  • 1873 School founded
  • 1961 School closed and children bussed to Halesworth

The Church

  • Tower 13c
  • Five bells
  • Porch 15c
  • Screen to chancel retains some medieval colouring
  • Font 14c
