If there is anyone reading this page that was EVER based at Wattisham [except detachments] please let me know, that is for those that have not mentioned this before. If you would rather send me a Private Message please feel free, I am currently helping with a project..........
hi john i have been looking at raf wattisham history, hoping to find clues where my old school mates have gone. I went to Stowmarket high between 1975/78 and most of the children from wattisham were there too. i had several mates who lived on the base and used to go to the contrail club as a guest sometimes. i remember most of the names, but not all the adults, or what they did. some were civilians working on the base. i do know that the 23 sqn and 56 sqn were there at that time, and am planning another school reunion in 2012. i would be really keen to find personnel who were at wattisham at that time, to try to find their (now adult) children who would be aged between 46/47 now. any help would be appreciated. i can supply names if appropriate. sue green nee gibbons sue1162@talktalk.net
Prince Alexander Obolensky was born a Russian but escaped the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917, he is famous for scoring what is considered the best ever English Rugby Try on his debut for England.
Has anyone had an invite from the Officer Commanding Wattisham Airfield to attend the 70th anniversary of the founding of RAF Wattisham, if so contact me by Private Message and perhaps we can arrange to meet up on July 11th 2009
