I agree John, I really like the Scallop, fantastic piece of sculpture and I think only add's to the beauty of the area IMHO. The only other thing I have to say is.....FISH AND CHIPS!!!!!!!
The Church of St Peter & St Paul, within the churchyard are buried Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears, the chancel wall still bears the scars of a German aircraft raid from WWII
A view of Aldeburgh from the sea wall looking North, it was here that Slaughden stood until early in the 20th century until this succumbed to the North Sea. This photo was taken from the drivers seat of my car, I doubt whether you can get a car much closer to the beach anywhere in Suffolk than here. Be careful of Stormy Seas and High Tides, the shingle can cause a lot of damage
Of over 100 Napoleon Martello Towers built this one at the end of the sea wall at Slaughden is the most Northern and is the only one built in the shape of a clover leaf
