I am a resident of Kesgrave (a Kesgravian) and am retired and fortunate enough to pursue a hobby of photographing buildings and nature. Thankfully I am close to three river estuaries and the coast to be able to not travel too far to enjoy these wonderful views.
I reside just to the north of Nacton Village and consider myself lucky to have enjoyed all that John Cooper enjoys about the Suffolk countryside. Though I don't get about very well these days I have enjoyed all that the Suffolk countryside has to offer in the past and never been disappointed by it.
I live in Mangakino, Waikato, New Zealand. We also have a lake (Lake Maraetai). Man-made but a real lake, and quite beautiful. On the opposite side of the lake is a pine forest (Privately Owned), and to sit on our side an look out over the lake is quite something. My connection with Suffolk is that my sister's first marriage was to a man from Lakenheath in the north. Not to be confused with RAF Lakenheath which is in the next county.

Congratulations and best wishes for your new forum, John. I'm Bill on the RAF Forum. I spent a wonderful childhood in the country just South of Lowestoft and went to school in Carlton Colville and Lowestoft. Hello to Robert in New Zealand. I notice you are just 4 months my senior and share my late father's birthday. He would have been 100 years old this year. Although I now live in Norfolk I spent a lot of time in Suffolk until my parents died. I still go back regularly to visit the churchyard and to see relatives. I was also stationed at RAF Wattisham and lived in Felixstowe for a while in the '60's.
Originally from Plymouth, I served in the RAF for some 24 years and that's how I got to Suffolk, spending nearly 2 years at RAF Bawdsey in the mid-sixties.
Now retired and living in Penang, Malaysia. Good luck with the new forum, John.
