A European Eagle Owl, these are not generally found in Suffolk except at aviaries and in this case is owned by Keith Mutton who uses this bird to scare birds from the runway area of the RAF Bases at Lakenheath and Mildenhall, this particular bird is called 'Twinkle' and has a 5' wingspan , more on her later........

The Eagle Owl in the capable hands of the Lakenheath Falconer Keith Mutton, Keith has been employed [with his team] to keep the airfields of Mildenhall and Lakenheath clear of roosting birds for 35 years. The Eagle Owl is called Twinkle, aged 20, it operates mainly at night frightening off roosting seagulls If ever one of these airfield roosting birds ingressed a jet intake, the consequences can be horrendous, at 7lbs in weight Twinkle has got to be the star of the show!
