When very young I was permitted to go with my Dad to the farm where my Granded worked, the summer months obviously were the busiest months of the year, he operated the traction engine and threshing machine which separated the corn from the chaff.
This was noisy and smelly and very dusty, the air was thick with smoke, soot and dust, I was allowed on the footplate on occasions but most of the time was probably in the way and we were told to go and chase the rabbits out of the stacked corn sheafs
Yesterday all this was brought back to me at the Wings, Wheels & Steam event at Rougham Airfield near Bury St. Edmunds, it was brilliant to see so many Traction Engines, road Rollers and a Stanley 1910 steam Car in the parade
I will load some pics here when they have all been sorted in the days to come
