The Royal Navy


Has anyone had a connection with the Navy in Suffolk, at Lowestoft, Ganges or in the other parts of the Harwich Haven area

There is a museum at Ganges by the pub The Shipwreck

Here is that famous mast at Shotley

This is what it was like to climb up to the button on Ganges mast! Mot me Chief I'm engines! biggrin

The HMS Ganges Association Museum at Shotley Point is well worth a visit

Although the site to the old HMS Ganges is 'out of bounds', I climbed the hill from the Marina to look at this once superb mast, well no longer is it superb, I wonder what all those 'boys' that passed through Shotley would have to say about this today, Grade II listed as well!!!
