All of those that have studied Cromwell, The Roundheads and The Church will know of one William Dowsing the chief iconoclast under Cromwell, who lived, died and is buried in Laxfield Churchyard. He was the person charged with destroying all religious images throughout the length and breadth of the nation, indeed he wreaked havoc on his own church here too.
