Suffolk Wildlife Trust look after more than 200 acres of this site which were once old gravel pit workings
Birds to be seen on a regular Summers Day are Heron, Egret, Swifts, Swallows, Martins etc. In the winter the largest colony of Goosanders in Suffolk visit here. One trip here an Osprey had been seen, not with our eyes but you do see bigger birds taking off and landing at the Giant USAF Mildenhall base up the road a tad!
There are 9 public viewable lakes, the footpaths are good and there are several bird hides
I have been to the SWT site several times, as a Reserve it must rank alongside Minsmere for the facilities it provides and yet in my 'weekday' visits it always appears under used, not that I'm complaining you understand!
