Wetheringsett Church has a huge arch in the west side of the tower, the register of births, deaths, marriages and other parish matters are recorded in one of the oldest church registers in Suffolk. All of course now held in the Suffolk Records Office which makes for an interesting read
My grand father was born here one of 13 children The picture shows him with his family 3 still to be born at the age of about 3 His name was Reginald. Its funny I always called him Reg which seemed very rude to outsiders but for some reason thats the way it was.
My Grandfather Reginald Barker or Reggie as I always called him was born in Wetheringsett. From a large family but I dont know where in the village. He was a horseman but lost his sight at an early age. I was very close to him. He died in 1970
These pictures were taking by me for The English Heritage Millennium project, if you go back there at all you could ask the Churchwarden if he knew of your Grandfather as I expect somewhere there are some records of who lived where. Gatacre Road in Ipswich holds most of the Parish Records for this area, but Bury St Edmunds hold the others.
