RE: Stonham Aspal

Hi I do have a connection with the village. My grandad was James William Alexander born 1880 in Stonham Aspal and his father James Alexander was a Local Argricultural labourer. My grandafther met my grandmother when he was in the Royal Garrison Artillery and was stationed at Leith Fort, Edinburgh. Originally he was in the Suffolk Artillery and took his oath to Queen Victoria at the age of 17 years and 2 months.

Not sure where exactly the family lived in the village.

from the photographs the village looks lovely. I hope to be able to visit one day.
