South Elmham St. Margaret

Anyone here with a connection to the village?

Above the Church Porch there is a Priests Room which houses the village stocks

My only visit to St Margarets on 17th April 1999 here are my notes and those from the church leaflet

  • The tower is from the 14c
  • The core of the church is from the Norman Period
  • One headstone is dated 1729
  • Two storeyed South Porch
  • Three Scratch dials
  • Some ancient graffiti exists
  • 15c Font
  • Seven medieval bench ends with Poppyheads exist
  • Five bells are hung in the Tower the earliest is dd1596
  • The registers date from 1679
  • The village stocks can be found in the porch
