I have only been to St Margarets Church on one occasion and that was on the 6th March 1999, here are my notes and those of the church leaflet

  • A church was recorded here at The Domesday Survey of 1086
  • The tower was built c1300
  • The core of the church is 14/15c
  • Three scratch dials exist
  • The porch door is early 15c
  • 15c Font
  • Hatchments to the Barne family
  • 15c Pulpit
  • A piece of glass is dated 1541 by the pulpit window
  • Many brasses in the Chancel the oldest to Sir Thomas Soterley dd 1468
  • A marble monument to Sir Thomas Playter d1638 on the North Wall
  • Three bells in the tower, the earliest dd 1550
  • Sir Thomas Playter had 22 children with two wives
