On one of my trips to Dennington I made a few notes together with those of the church booklet of St Mary's, my visit was 20th February 1999, I have been back several times since
It is always difficult to define some of Suffolk's great churches but this one has got to be one of them
There is some small amounts of 12c stonework
14c the Chancel, Nave and Tower were built
Staircase Turret to the Tower at 82' high
The West Doorway contain medieval doors [just imagine the princes and paupers who have walked through these
Length of church is 130'
The Nave roof was constructed c1430 !
Six bells with the tenor weighing in at 19cwt
The font is from the 14c
The font cover is 15c
Royal Arms of George III dd 1785
The Parclose Screens are the originals [excepting the paintwork] and can be dd to c1450
Bench ends are all different carvings and some of the best in Suffolk
Imagine a wood craftsman knowing about a mythological creature such as a Sciapod when being carved in the 15c
The Pulpit dates from 1628
Iron bound chest of the 14c
A 14c Stone Coffin Lid can be found in the aisle floor
