I have been to the Park and Gardens a few times which are beautiful, I first visited the Church of St Mary's on 13th February 1999, here are some of my and the church notes:
A list of Rectors date from 1307
John Tollemache authorised the first tower to be built in 1490
This was built for the princely sum of £30 !!!!!
....and took 10 years to build
The North Door can be dated to between 1190 & 1300
The South Door is early 13c, just imagine who has been through those doors over the centuries
Under the Chancel is a vault to the Tollemache family covered with purple velvet and with coronets place on them
There are eight bells
There are many memorials throughout the church to The Tollemaches plus many headstones in the church yard
Gypsy Queen Rhoda Boswell and her son are buried by the yew tree
