Freston

A parish that sits on the top of a hill running down to the shores of The River Orwell, great area for bird spotters or just taking in the view of the Orwell Bridge or downstream to Pin Mill and beyond.

This area is only one of 40 odd places in the UK designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, yachts people [in a magazine survey] voted the River Orwell as most unspoilt and favourite river in all of England apart from The River Dart in Devon. I have been on both, by walking and boat and would say they were equal in attractiveness, I feel so privileged that the Orwell is on my doorstep. I find the best view is the foreshore by the layby just prior to the hill approaching the village of Freston and then walking to the Folly said to be Englands oldest.
