Stratford St. Mary

A lovely village with some beautiful half timbered buildings , a church that looks the part, riverside walks and all in Constable country, I have walked this area extensively, in fact over a 12 month period we had completed spasmodic walks from Stoke by Clare to Shotley where possible. Perhaps here is my favourite part of the River Stour, now who pronounces it Stower or Sturr, I'm of the latter ilk.

Here is that beautiful richly decorated stonework church that houses two paintings by John Constable RA

I visited here on Wednesday, this has got to be one of Suffolks most interesting older villages, but the place was deserted, no one near the River Stour but at nearby Dedham it was packed, perhaps we ought to keep it that way, aye!smile

The Weavers House, plenty of windows for everyone to take full advantage of daylight hours!
