RE: Ipswich

Sam Harvey VC is buried in Ipswich Cemetery, his brave deed in WWI won him the Victoria Cross which was presented by King George V. Sam died a pauper, his heroic deeds were only recognised quite recently by the Borough Council.

Sam could not afford the train fare to London to receive his VC but the local MP at the time paid for his train fare down there but he had to make his own way back, being very poor but speaking his mind he bantered with the king who asked 'Would you like a cup of tea' to which Sam replied he would rather have a beer!! smile.gif
