Another fine building close to the Bistro above is this Toy Shop [currently] with brick nogging between the timbers

The Sea Captains Houses at 79-83 Grimwade Street Ipswich has reputedly the longest bressumer beam in existence, I measured this out in paces last week and counted 20 paces so this must be approaching anything up to 60' in length. I did see a 'similar length' beam at Coddenham a couple of weeks ago, these must have been amazingly tall trees!

Somehow I would imagine this is how most of those medieval buildings would have looked like hundreds of years ago, these are in Fore Street, Ipswich

I'm not sure of the age of this building leading from Lower Orwell Street towards Fore Street in Ipswich is, but they look beautiful to me smile.gif

I wonder how many oak trees would have needed to be felled in 'Merrye Old Englande' to have built these houses in all of Lavenham
