The Mulliner (Mullener) Surname

In the 1861 census, an ancestor, John Mullenor or Mulliner, stated that his place of birth was Yaxley, Suffolk.  He was baptized in 1802 and I believe that he must have been baptised in Yaxley.

  He grew up in Selborne, Hampshire where his mother was born, so why he was born in Yaxley is a mystery.  Unless it was because his mother was already expecting him when she married a John Mullener in Shoreditch, London and could not return to the closed community of Selborne until he was born.   John Mullenor senior was most probably from Yaxley, born about 1777, and so most likely took his wife Frances there to have her baby, rather than face the villagers of Selborne where she was born and grew up. 

  I intend to visit Yaxley in the future, but in the meantime I am curious to know whether any Mulliners/ Mullenors still exist in Yaxley or the close area.  It is not a very common name.

My 10x g-granddad, Thomas Mulliner/Mullner/Mullinder the Elder(1), a joiner and guildsman, was b. ca 1550 in Ipswich. His son Thomas(2) and grandson Thomas(3), (my ancestors) left to make their fortune in what would become Connecticut in the 1630's. Thomas(2) returned to Ipswich, where he d. in 1663. Thomas(1) had a second son, named William, who apparently stayed in England, and at least 2 grandsons (thru his son Thomas(2)), named: Lawrence (he was named in Byshe's 'A Visitation of the County of Suffolk, begun Anno Dni. 1664 and Finished Anno Dni. 1668'), and Horseman--the maiden name of their mother. (The given name Horseman continued w/in the family on this side of the Pond for several generations.) Unfortunately, every attempt I've made to identlfy English kin of this family has met with failure. I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who recognizes any of the aforementioned as family.
