Off Suffolk and now on land we have many wind turbines appearing, firstly the windfarm off Walton on the Naze was built these turbines can be seen from Felixstowe/Landguard. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunfleet_Sands_Offshore_Wind_Farm

A huge complex is now being built [I believe the World's largest] off Orfordness, this is good news for the shipping industry and ports which is carrying out the transportation of the pylons, pods and blades

I also saw being erected two massive onshore wind turbines at Kessingland last week which is to power the Africa Alive experience [Wildlife Park] these are in excess of 45 metres tall and the three turbine blades are each in excess of 60' in length.

I am not sure whether I want to see these appearing all over the county but with recent events in Fukishima in Japan, after the effects of a tsunami, makes me wonder whether these are the preferred choice as against another Sizewell Nuclear Power Station in the form of Sizewell C

Being in Sizewell some three weeks ago I note ground development work opposite the Vulcan Arms Public House is well underway to receive the electricity turbine power generated at sea and then processed into the National Grid into the existing network

This Bond Eurocopter EC135 I spotted last Sunday at Kessingland, I first saw the maiden flight of this 'chopper' on the newly erected helipad at Lowestoft Harbour in July 2010, it is being used as a survey helicopter and for emergency use at The Greater Gabbard Windfarm off Orfordness http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Gabbard_wind_farm

On Scroby Sands [off Great Yarmouth] this wind farm can be seen from Corton/Lowestoft http://www.eon-uk.com/generation/scrobysands.aspx

Bit of an oddball this one, on Tuesday I spent the morning at Sizewell on the Suffolk Coast, here we have a redundant Nuclear Power Plant Sizewell A [I have been inside this monster], we also have a very much [radio] active 'B' Nuclear Reactor [although for some reason it was knocked out of the National Grid System last Friday!] In a few short years we are going to have on site Sizewell 'C' Reactor but a few miles out to sea the generating companies are building the largest wind farm in the world with some 140 turbines out at sea.

The energy from these turbines will come ashore by sea bed cabling, guess where to, next to Sizewell A, surely the material cost of the turbines is going to outweigh the cost of nuclear power for which I am no fan, all of this system is being called The Greater Gabbard project, what with solar panels on roofs of houses I wonder how long it will be before someone decides that Anthracite might be a cheaper option?
