Aldeburgh to Thorpeness

Take a walk from Aldeburgh to Thorpeness and maybe have Fish 'n' Chips on the sea front, look for some amber on the beach, visit the RNLI Station, view the scene from the Town Steps or stop and pause at The Moot Hall before taking in the Giant Scallop on the beach.

This town can be extremely busy on any day in the summer!

There are not too many places where you can park your car as close as this to the North Sea in the County of Suffolk and it is still free smile

One of the first buildings you come across is the Old Fort Green Mill a windmill built in 1824 but for the last century has been used as living accomodation

There are two Fish 'n' Chip shops in the High Street, both owned by the same people, but for some reason this is the one you need to be seen queueing in!! biggrin

Aldeburgh Beach Front

Back on the beach looking North [after the fish 'n' chips!] there are two lookout towers, one high and one low and were used by boat pilots to guide ships into port

At this point if you wish to have the best view of Aldeburgh you need to go into the town opposite the lookout tower and find the Town Steps, climb these for a view out to sea and above the chimney pots

Back to the seafront and the RNLI Station at Aldeburgh, the history and heroism is worth a visit in itself
