Mysterious Events

We all somehow recall the events of the famous Rendlesham Forest UFO incident here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rendlesham_Forest_Incident

But how many of you recall an incident in the Ipswich area one night in the 1970s. It was reported that half the population of Ipswich were awakened or heard a prolonged tremendous noise.

I hadn't been out of the RAF at Wattisham for very long when this incident happened, there I worked on 29 Squadron Lightnings, the roar of these engines was something else on full reheat and in a climb.

But the mystery noise went on far longer than anything I ever heard from RAF aircraft before. The USAF and RAF Bawdsey reported nothing unusual or anything that appeared on their RADAR scopes.

A question was raised in Parliament [Ernle Money MP ??] and no explaination was or could be given does anyone else recall the incident?

There was of course the Shingle Street mystery from 1940, I don't know what happened but I do not trust the Government in saying that nothing happened there in 1940

When I was stationed at Angllia Control [1961-1964] we had two incidents that I recall. One was in the summer of 1962 when RAF Lightnings were scrabled from RAF Wattisham. Reports came back that it was a "weather balloon". In the summer of 1963, Lightnings again and this time they intercept a TU-104 and escorted it back to France.

Paul, welcomesmile A Tu-104 back to France, when I was at Wattisham 67-69] we used to escort the Bears and Badgers back to Russia. That was our QRA [Quick Reaction Alert] thankfully all heeded the message.

Where was Anglia Control, Bawdsey perhaps??

This morning we took the UFO Walk at Rendlesham Forest adjacent to the old USAF/RAF Air Base called Woodbridge but during WWII Sutton Heath, the base commander Lt Col Holt who witnessed this event was quickly shipped back to the States. It was also reported that within 2 days unmarked aircraft flew in direct from the USA with [allegedly] CIA staff aboard No one can adequately give reason to what they saw other than a UFO, some 'official' reports claim that it was Orfordness Lighthouse shining through the forest, if anyone has been there the forest is as black as your hat. So perhaps when/if man landed on the Moon and if/when craft have visited other planets from Earth perhaps the reverse has happened too, I keep an open mind on such matters Web site http://www.ufoevidence.org/documents/doc663.htm The Forestry Commission is a QUANGO funded by HMG, their Rendlesham Forest HQ is within spitting distance of RAF Woodbridge
