RE: Nature Reserves

Friday 27th March 2009

Place: Minsmere RSPB Bird Reserve

There were many different birds and animals to see although this time I didn't hear or see a Bittern

Where photography was possible these are some of the highlights

One of four Red Deer between the Bittern Hide and the Visitor Centre, I was able to shoot off plenty of photos from within 20-25'

There is always plenty of activity on the feeders near to the Visitors Centre

Even this Pheasant after the crumbs!

The Avocets were there in force here are three of them

One Lapwing from a distance

I'm no expert but I do believe this one to be a Spotted Redshank which came within close proximity to one of the Hides by The Scrape

Before 1947 Avocets were not seen in the UK until the first pair started breeding again in 1947 near Minsmere in Suffolk, today there are thousands in the country and throughout the Summer Months hundreds can be seen at Minsmere RSPB, the RSPB use this bird as their logo
