ch wissington.jpgAnyone with a connection to the village?

Wissington Church (sometimes spelt/pronounced Wiston) stands close to the River Stour with just some farm buildings keep it company. This church is of unusual design, built in 1135AD in Norman Style, but with weather boarded bell turret. The chancel wall is rounded and has several paintings within, an added bonus on my visit was that the churchyard full of nodding snowdrops

My notes written on the leaflet available from St Mary's shows that my visit here was recorded as 2nd Feb 1999

  • Built originally on a Norman tripartite plan
  • 15c Font
  • 13c Wall Paintings
  • George III Royal Coats of Arms
