Anyone with a connection to the village?


Worlington Church has five bells, one dates back to c1310 making this one of Suffolks oldest, but older still is a circa 800 AD sanctus bell that is situated in Moyses Museum in Bury St Edmunds and in my opinion ought to be returned to this church where it belongs!

I first visited All saints Church on 22nd May 1999, this is what I noted:

  • The structure we see today was built c1280 with later additions
  • A Sanctus Bell c800 AD on a previous place of worship and can now be found in The Moyses Museum in Bury St Edmunds
  • Originally Worlington was in The Lackford Hundred
  • Original medieval glass can be found in a lancet window
  • A Saxon font but date unknown
  • 14c graffiti
  • 13c entrance door and sanctuary knocker of the same age
  • The tower is 14c
  • Five bells with one of them possibly the oldest in the county c1310
  • The register of priests can be dated to 1318
