I lived at Birds End Gardens in East End Lane for 4 years. I moved at the age of 6 to Ipswich but I can remember the village well. When I started school there opposite The Ten Bells Pub I spoke more Greek than English and it was recorded in the book written and publihed by Mrs Spaul the Headmistress that I swore at her in Greek. We lived in the house opposite the entrance to Stonham Barns and accross the field. I took part in the Coronation celebrations there and can still remember about 40 of us during the day watching the TV in our neighbours house. Can you imagine 40 people round a 10 inch screen. My father being a mechanic was popular with the locals and 1 in particular a Jim Cousins who owned the post office used to give me sweets. Lovely village.
