I live within walking distance of both the Heath and The Village. I was stationed at the old RAF base at MH in 1960 which is where my connections with Suffolk started. There is a terrific aviation museum in the control tower which is free of charge and these volunteers do a fantastic job through donations and fundraising for future generations to enjoy.

There are many woodland walks, the autumn carpet of leaves is a joy. Martlesham Creek has a varied history most of the white bricks that were transported to build The White House in Washington were produced in Woolpit and shipped from the Creek. Look out for some varied birdlife in this area.

The BT Research Centre employs over 4000 people, I'm not sure that I like the tower but that is my opinion

Every time I pass that BT tower John I want to light the blue touch paper and watch it take off, I'm sure the chap that designed that must have been watching Star Wars or some such thing.

I believe on the tower some years ago some wags had somehow lifted a car on to the roof of the BT Tower in this aerial view you can pick out Martlesham BT Research Centre in the centre of the picture, this view is looking north/north east
