Woolverstone

This village hosts a large school at the Hall with splendid views of the River Orwell, the church is in these grounds too. The road to The Royal Harwich Yacht Club is private but if you park at Pin Mill and walk along to Waldringfield though the woods and on the shoreline and walk the circular route via the church, Chelmondiston and back to Pin Mill you will have cetainly taken in some fine views

Cat House by the Marina is so named, when, with the apparent links to the smuggling trade, the Revenue Men [todays HMC&E] were in the area a toy white cat was placed in the window, when the Revenue Men had gone so too did the cat disappear. The Church of St Michael stands all alone on the edge of Woolverstone Park, the nearby hall has commanding views of the River Orwell this was built in 1776 and is now used as a school Famous connections Arthur Ransome [1884-1967] author of 'Swallows and Amazons' series of books kept his boats moored here and at nearby Pin Mill [Buttermans Bay] whilst residing nearby for a while
