  • Evidence of a Roman settlement here where the road between Orford and Coddenham met at Wicham Market
  • Saxon King Edgar conferred the township to the Monks of Ely
  • The Earldom of Norfolk and the Bigods had a stake here in Norman times
  • A market was granted in medieval times together with two annual fairs

All Saints Church [information provided by the booklet available within the church]

  • The present church was rebuilt in the 14c including the octagonal tower
  • The spire was rebuilt in the 1790's  and much interior alteration was undertaken in Victorian times
  • The spire was releaded in 1960's, the height is 137.5' high
  • About half way up the spire on the west side is a Sanctus Bell
  • Six bells, the earliest recorded is 1601
  • Silver Chalice dated 1567 and inscribed WICCOM
  • A list of Rectors date from 1309
  • One north and one south chapel dates from the 15c
  • Part of the pulpit has a carved panel by Grinling Gibbons
