A market town bordered by the River Waveney and Norfolk, there are some nice riverside views and walks, with pleasure boats in abundance. Beccles is only one of a few Suffolk places that have their church towers separated from the main body of the church, the others being at Elveden, Bramfield and Bury St Edmunds
