The erosion at Covehithe as seen from Benacre Nature Reserve is unrelenting, Covehithe Church on the right probably will not exist by 2030
Dutch Elm on the clifftop, with coastal erosion this now might have been swallowed by the sea
The top photo was taken circa year 2000, the tree in the second photo now does not exist, the photo below was taken less than three years ago, much land has since disappeared [the row of trees beyond are on land at Easton Bavents managed by English Nature]
Last week [April 2011] pretty much the same view looking south towards Southwold note the precarious cliff overhang, it is also interesting to note that on the latest photo [below] the farmer had decided to plant this years cereal crop last Autumn and where the seed has been drilled much of the cliff has disappeared
Can I just say that I am nowhere near the cliff edge when I take these photos, I take these from a nearby jutting edge using a telephoto DSLR lens which in fact makes the picture look more dramatic than it actually is, I value my life more than I value these photos. So please do not go near to the cliff edge on any coastline that you visit as these can be extremely unstable............
