The Chapel of St Nicholas was built and owned by Sir James Tyrell who it is thought was responsible for signing the death warrants of 'The Princes in the Tower of London' [12 year old Edward and Richard his younger brother] They were detained in the Tower and shortly afterwards mysteriously disappeared but thought to be murdered on the instructions of Richard III

The Chapel's outside walls are outstanding for their flushwork [knapped dressed flintstone]

In 1774 Edmund Tyrell of Gipping was appointed High Sheriff of Suffolk
