Blythburgh

Blythburgh

A village split in half by the A12 Gt Yarmouth-Ipswich road, which on occasions gets flooded in extreme high tides. I just love the reedbeds around The Blyth and its estuary of salt marshes.

The crowning glory is the Cathedral of The Marshes a huge church which has some fantastic features, the wood carvings, the nave roof the flushwork to the stone etc. Beautifully lit up at night almost like a ship on fire at sea

On a stall end is carved a picture of St Philip holding 3 loaves, remember these were all carved by carpenters hundreds of years ago!

Ah Tarkey I recognise it now, great for bird watching there. The marsh harriers are in the area there too.
