The Conical Cap Windmill at Thelnetham is still in full working order, this dates from the very early part of the 1800's

I have only been to Thelnetham once, I must return one day soon, my trip here occurred her on 11th September 1999 my notes and those of the Church of St Nicholas are shown here:

  • The core of the church dates from the 14c but an earlier church was recorded in the Domesday Survey of 1086
  • The South Aisle was built in the time of Edmund Gonville, the founder of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge and who was Rector of St Nicholas in 1320
  • 14c Font made from Barnack Stone [Northamptonshire]
  • On the South Aisle wall is an alabaster/marble monument to Sir Henry Bokenham d1648, Sir Henry was also High Sheriff in 1630
  • Five bells are to be found in the tower
  • The Register dates from 1538
