Herons/Bitterns/Egrets
 


I have only managed a handful of shots of Bitterns flying this one I captured at Lakenheath Fen

A very elegant bird is the Little Egret, these are increasing in numbers where-ever shallow water is to be found but as deadly as any fishing expert can be, they move their heads on their long necks with lightning speed, there is usually one to be found at Melton Bridge near Woodbridge [this photo], or at Minsmere, Lackford, Lakenheath or Walberswick, the latter placename I encountered six within a hundred yards or so of each other

.....and seven on Loompit Lake near Levington Marina as this picture shows

This one close to the bridge near to the carpark at Walberswick, these appear quite tame

I was so lucky with this shot at Minsmere, thinking at first it was a Heron some 400 yards away it turned out to be this Bittern
