A Day out in Suffolk

Hello John,

I have just returned to North Carolina after visiting my brother, who lives in Ipswich.  I enjoyed my visit and catching up with relatives and friends.  My brother and I enjoyed ourselves just taking short trips out to the surrounding areas of Ipswich.

One Saturday (Valentine's Day) we went to Halesworth.  I had never been there before.  What a delightful place it is.  We were fortunate enough to be there on the day the local farmers were having a market to sell their wares.  They were doing a very good business and everthing looked very tempting.  We had morning coffee in one of the local pubs, then made our way to Beccles.  Never been there before either.  Had lunch in a little cafe where the locals go to catch up on all the town gossip.  From there we visited Bungay and did the town.  On our way home we stopped at Snape Maltings for a cup of tea and checked out their new addition to the home and garden area.  Beautiful and different things can be purchased there.  We also went to the church at Iken.  To our great surprise the church was open so that made our visit even more enjoyable.

After that it was home but we both enjoyed our day out immensely.  With all the bad news coming out of London, it is comforting to visit the small towns and villages that really do represent the real England.
