Used to walk the dog on Knettishall Heath - some super walks round there.

Some years since I was last on the heath, I see now there is a carpark charge [obviously too popular!] When I was last here there were Exmoor Ponies and Hebridean Sheep keeping some of the undergrowth down to a manageable size, anyone know if they are still here.

Ther are, as Spike says some super walks on the Heath with three major walking routes bordering or cutting through the Heath

Peddars Way of course, the old Pedlars [todays travelling salesmen] travelling back and forth from Hunstanton to London selling their wares

Icknield Way reputed to be a footpath over 4000 years old that leads 120 miles or so into Buckinghamshire

Angles Way that follows the Rivers Waveney/Little Ouse boundary and finishing in Gt Yarmouth

There are also colour coded walks across and around the Heath

Knettishall Heath is good walking territory, there is a riverside meadows walk along the Little Ouse River, there is the start of the 46 mile Peddars Way [Pedlars] walk to the North Norfolk Coast, Icknield Way runs through part of the Heath and The Angles Way is in there somewheresmile

It is a few years since I last went up there, a return visit is on the cards
