I first visited All Saints Church at Hitcham on 10th April 1999, the church booklet states this  Hitcham in the 1086 Domesday Survey was the richest and largest part of Suffolk this then came under the jurisdiction of Ely

I recall the village being very l-o-n-g [seemingly two miles]

Of my notes and those of All Saints Church

  • A very large tower of 15c [similar to C0CKFIELD]
  • Clerestoried nave of 14c
  • Two aisles
  • Splendid 15c South Porch [similar to Bildeston, Preston & Felsham]
  • North double storeyed vestry
  • Double Hammerbeam roof
  • Chancel ceiling similar to Rattlesden
  • Royal Arms to George VI
  • A lovely 15c Screen, one of the finest in West Suffolk
  • Six bells, the earliest [2] are from 1697
  • The registers date from 1575
