Anyone here with a village connection?

Rushbrooke Church again an unusual church but of much interest. The nave has stalls facing each other instead of pews. The only church coat of arms relating to Henry VIII in the whole of England is to be seen here, weather it is genuine is debatable. The whole area is immaculately kept including the village and farmhouse, it really looks a picture

In 1579 Sir Robert Jermyn, of Rushbrooke was elected as High Sheriff of Suffolk

  • 1903 Population of the village was 134
  • 1994 Population of the village was 60
  • The River Lark rises near here and discharges into The Wash

What to see in the Church of St Nicholas

  • Mainly rebuilt in 1540 by Thomas Jermyn
  • The Chancel Arch bears a wooden carved Coat of Arms to Henry VIII this apparently is the only known example in the country c1540
  • The oldest bell is 1636
  • The seating is arranged with the congregation face one another
  • There are two fonts
