St Gregory's Church, Rendlesham

  • The King of Essex was baptised here 700AD
  • The Church today was built between 14-15c
  • The Font is 15c
  • An Arch Braced roof was revealed in the 1930's when a plaster ceiling was removed
  • The oldest floor stone is dated 1652 [Wm Redgrave, Rector] 
  • There are three bells the oldest from 17c
  • The Tower and Battlements has a good chequerboard design
  • There is a 14c recessed tomb with full size stone figure thought to be where the remains of The Rector John Chaperon are buried d1349]  
  • A gowned Clergyman has been seen in the churchyard after dark

At Daisy's Walk in Rendlesham you will find one of the prettiest walks in the whole of the county, it is vibrant any time of the year but this was one of the many walks we have had here in Spring 2011

I am sure we are all aware of strange happenings in Rendlesham Forest several decades ago, but this one caught my eye !!
