Milden

Anyone have any connections with this village?

Milden. The second highest point in Suffolk at about 400', the tower was damaged in a storm in 1827 and later removed. There is a view over to Lavenham Church but what really impressed me when I arrived on this cloudless May day was the sheer brilliance of an avenue of laburnham trees in full flower

My mother was born in Milden in 1916.  Her father was a horseman on Pound Farm (I think). They moved from there in 1927 or thereabouts. My mother and her brothers used to walk to school to Monks Eleigh each day as did a lot of children at that time.
The laburnum trees brings back memories of a story my Grandfather used to tell us. He was a pall bearer at his time there and when the Laburnum trees  were in full bloom, although beautiful, it made their tasks very difficult.  There is a section of the grave yard which includes a number of Goodchilds--these are my ancesters.
