You knew when your old steam train taking you from London to Lowestoft for weekend leave was getting near home when you heard the Station Master cry out  "Daaaaaarshum Steeeeearshun". Not long afterwards you could smell the sea. biggrin

site of one of the Home Chain Radar Stations. All thats left now is the guardhouse by the Holton Road.

The RAF Station of Chain Home RADAR was called RAF High Street, there appears to be little history of this station but it must have been as important as all the other stations during The Battle of Britain.

Still on a military theme in Darsham Church on the North Wall is a war memorial there is a ships bell here, when HMS Darsham [Coastal Patrol Vessel] was decommissioned in 1966 the Ships Bell was presented to the village

Some further information on Darsham here, strange really as I have only ever seen one photo of the aerials here and have never encountered anyone based here are there any villagers who recall anything of this secret site?
