Lowestoft

Lowestoft has much going for Suffolk's second largest town, a busy port, once the home of a very lage fishing fleet, Britains most Easterly Mainland Point, some of the finest sandiest beaches in Suffolk. If you are from here tell us about your home town.

Sir Samuel Morton Peto brought the railway to Lowestoft, he owned Somerleyton Hall and created some magnificent buildings in South Lowestoft [Kirkley end] see his life and times here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Morton_Peto

Sir Samuel is recorded in perpetuity in the gardens adjacent to the Promenade on Lowestoft's Sea Front
